Personal Information
Brother Robert Alvin Crum, PDC was born in Pekin, Illinois on April 18, 1954. He joined
the SUVCW through Gibbons-Burke Camp No. 2, Dept. of NC in 2014, and he was the
Camp Organizer for the MG George Stoneman Camp No. 6 in 2017. As Department
Commander, he authorized the organization of and became a Charter Member of the
MG Judson Kilpatrick Camp No. 7. Brother Robert is a Dual Member of the Kilpatrick
and Stoneman Camps.
Veteran Ancestors
Great-great-great Grandfather Captain Robert Elkin Haggard formed Company F, 61 st Illinois
Volunteer Infantry in 1861. In 1862, while fighting at the Battle of Shiloh, he was shot on
April 6 (Bloody Sunday) and captured along with others of the Sixth Division, Army of
Tennessee, commanded by General Prentiss. Captain Haggard spent six months in the
Southern prison system until he was paroled at Aikens Landing, Virginia during an
exchange of officers. He returned to his regiment. In 1863, he resigned his commission
due to his inability to use his right arm and poor health caused by his imprisonment.

Missouri Cavalry and Battery K, 2nd Illinois Light Artillery.
Brother Robert also has four additional ancestors who are Union Veterans that can be added once supplements for them with the SUVCW are submitted and approved.

Special Activities and Accomplishments
Brother Robert, PDC is a historian, writer, visual artist, and public speaker, who also
portrays his sixth great-grandfather Col. Daniel Boone. He earned a Bachelor of Arts at
Bradley University in political science with a concentration in history and studied law for
two years at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. He became a full-time visual artist in
2001 specializing in oil painting, murals, and mosaics. For decades, he's been
researching, writing, painting, and telling stories about the Boone and Bryan ancestors,
and he’s received multiple grants and awards for his work.
