Brother Vilga has always had a fascination with history and family ancestry. He has and continues to work to piece together the stories and family history that have given him the opportunity to live free and raise a family in the greatest country in the world.
He has successfully been able to research several ancestors that served in the Civil War and claim their unclaimed Civil War medals from the State of West Virginia. To date, he has claimed a medal for family members William Cooper, Garrison Bland and Sidney Satterfield.
While serving as a Commissioner in the Town of Rolesville, he was also able to implement a Military Banner program that allows family members to showcase their Military heroes from Memorial Day to Veterans Day annually.
Brother Vilga is grateful for all those that have served in the armed forces and has family members that have served from the Revolutionary War to present. He is very thankful for his grandfather Paul Vilga Sr (his namesake) and his brothers John, Frank, George and Joseph who fought for this county in WWII, Korea and Vietnam while being the first generation of the Vilga family born in the United States.
