Brother John France joined the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War a member of the Thomas H. Ruger Camp #1 in 2006.

In 2011 Brother France transferred back to the Thomas H. Ruger Camp #1.
Since his return Brother France has served as;

· Department Secretary/Treasurer (2012-2017)
· Brother became a Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War Life Member in 2014.
During his service with Major General Thomas H. Ruger Camp #1 Brother France has receive recognition as; National Aide Award for membership recruiting for three constitutive years, 2013, 2014 and 2015.
Brother France continues to serve honorably and with distinction in Major General Thomas H. Ruger Camp #1. He is well respected by those in Major General Thomas H. Ruger Camp #1, as well as the Departmental and National levels. In 2013 Brother France successfully completed the SUVCW Memorial University course.
